1960s Designer White Silk and Lace Gown by Mr. Gilbert, Silk and Lace Wedding Gown, Vintage Bridal Gown, Vintage Designer Gown

Timeless, Mr.Gilbert gown from the 60s. This is from the estate of Marmie Hess, one of our VIP's here in Calgary and I know that she was never married so this must have been worn as a gown for a special event. It is truly a work of art and beautifully made with top drawer lace and fabric and with a lot of skill. The dimensional lace is decorated with ribbon in a floral pattern, just gorgeous and luscious and you can just look closely at it and it shows its quality and beauty. The lace is applied on to a fairly crisp silk that is lined with a layer of sheer silk organdy. The hem is skillfully done with a wide horsehair interior to keep it hanging perfectly. The bodice is fitted, has boning and is lined with a crisp, cool fabric and there is a waistline brace that hooks at the back to ensure the perfect fit and hang of the dress. Delicate,ballerina style spaghetti straps are perfect for the style. Skirt is beautifully pleated, accented with a large bow.

This is a very special, unique dress with Hollywood Glamour style such as would be worn by Jackie Kennedy or Aubrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly. Classy.

The colour of the dress is a soft white as all vintage white is. It is not the bright white of a modern dress but more natural white like the white of eggshell or other natural white.

In very good, newly dry-cleaned condition. The hem does have very minor marks as seen in the last photo, but Miss Hess was quite tall and we have chosen to leave them there in case the hem needs to be shortened and the marks would vanish to the inside. In any case, they are very minor and no one would see them unless they looked close and were looking for them.

Bust : 32" or 34" if you include the cup ease and measure the full circumference

Underarm to. waist: 8"
waist to hem: 40" *there is lots of extra spaghetti strap to let down which would lengthen the dress and drop the hemline as well.
